This policy explains how Cat Mouse Chase ("the app") handles data. The app is published by 372 Studio OÜ ("we", "us"), a company registered in Estonia. We are the controller of the personal data described here.
In short: there are no accounts and no sign-in. There are no ads in the app. We don't track you across other companies' apps or websites, and the app never asks for permission to track. Cat Cam photos stay on your device unless you save or share them. Analytics is off unless you turn it on.
Cat Mouse Chase is a game for cats, set up and controlled by their adult owners. It is not directed at children, and we don't knowingly collect data from children.
The Membership subscription is sold through Apple In-App Purchase. We use RevenueCat, a subscription service provider, to check your subscription status, restore purchases and measure revenue. RevenueCat receives:
As with any internet connection, your IP address is visible to the service when the app connects. We never see or store your payment card details; Apple handles payment.
Legal basis: providing the subscription you buy (performance of a contract). Measuring revenue and which Apple Search Ads campaigns lead to installs is based on our legitimate interest in running and funding the app.
The first time you start a hunt (after the Play tips page), the app asks whether you want to share usage analytics. It is off unless you agree, and you can change your choice at any time in Settings › Privacy. If you agree, the app sends basic usage events to PostHog's EU cloud:
Each event carries a random install ID created only for analytics, plus the app version, device class (for example iPhone or iPad) and build environment. Analytics never includes your name, photos, payment details, receipts, transaction IDs or RevenueCat IDs, and it isn't linked to the RevenueCat data above. Your IP address is visible to the service when the app connects.
Turning analytics off stops future collection and deletes the analytics install ID from your device; turning it on again later starts a new one. Events that were already sent, or were in transit when you turned it off, may still arrive.
Legal basis: your consent, which you can withdraw at any time in Settings › Privacy.
Cat Cam is optional and needs your permission to use the front camera. During a hunt it keeps up to 40 still photos per hunt (never video) as Hunt Moments. These photos are stored only on your device, are excluded from device backups, and are never sent to us or to any service provider.
A photo leaves the app only when you choose: Save to Photos (the app asks for add-only access to your photo library and never reads it) or Share (to a destination you pick). Deleting a Moment removes it from the app; copies you saved to Photos or shared are not affected. Deleting the app removes all Moments.
We don't use a third-party crash reporting service. If you have chosen to share analytics with app developers in your device's settings, Apple provides us with standard crash and diagnostic reports through App Store Connect and Xcode.
The app keeps your settings (such as hunt pace, vibration and Cat Cam on/off), your Hunt Moments and RevenueCat's local subscription cache on your device. Deleting the app removes them.
We don't sell personal data and don't share it for advertising. The only service providers that receive data from the app are RevenueCat and, if you opt in, PostHog, plus Apple for purchases, App Store services and crash reports. How long each provider keeps data, and where it processes it (which may include countries outside the European Economic Area), is set out in their own policies:
Under the GDPR you have the right to access, correct and delete your personal data, to restrict or object to processing (including processing based on legitimate interests), to data portability, and to withdraw consent at any time. To make a request, email simon@372studio.com. Because the app has no accounts, we may ask for details that help us find records connected to your device or purchase. You also have the right to complain to a data protection authority — in Estonia, the Estonian Data Protection Inspectorate (Andmekaitse Inspektsioon) — or to the authority where you live.
We may update this policy. The effective date at the top shows the latest version; material changes will also be noted in the app or on this page.
